2009 Rocketry Classes

Assessment Symposium 2009

2009 Rocketry Classes

During January, February, March, April and May.  I am planning ten (10) Sessions of rocketry classes for students, ages 6 to 14 years. Each Session consists of three (3) meeting dates, each 3 hours long, for the completion of three rockets, depending on the level of difficulty. We will meet on selected Saturdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, Sundays from 9:00 – 12:00 noon. The dates for each Session are given below.

We will meet in the Mirman Upper School Science Lab for all Sessions according to the scheduled times for the Saturday and Sunday sessions. During the three meeting days for each Session, each student will construct at least two to three rockets representing various skill levels of difficulty (Levels I to IV).  Following the completion of each Session, a mutually convenient date will be selected so that students with their rockets, parents and those interested in attending the launch, journey to Antelope Valley, Mojave Desert,  blasting their creations into the heavens.
There are no fees for this class other than a $99.00 cost for each three day Session.  Rockets, one rocket engine for each rocket, igniters, wadding, a wide variety of spray paints and tools are provided. An Xacto Hobby knife set will be given to students to keep. Please make check payable to Science Destinations. I have purchased many cool rockets, big ones, that you will enjoy building and launching.

Materials, such as xacto knives, blades, cutting boards, three types of glue, sand paper, scissors, masking tape, rulers and balsa wood will be provided by me including several launch platforms, launch controllers and batteries.

Students learn the following: Reading and following scientific directions: Gain an understanding of  rocketry principles: Create their own artistic designs: And enjoy the ultimate in rocket building -  launching  their rockets. Last year we all had a blast!

If you are interested in the Rocketry Class, please complete the form below, include the $99 fee for each  person (kids & parents for one fee. Students ages 6 to 8 must have one parent to assist) and turn in to front office. Dads & Moms are welcome to attend and build rockets with their kids. It's a great time to do this fun project together. It is an opportunity to spend some time with your kid.
